As the volume and complexity of ECUs (from simple body controllers to engine management units) and other electronic systems (including sensing, networking and communications, and infotainment) throughout automobiles have increased, testing these electronic subassemblies has become increasingly challenging. Furthermore, electrification and the shift toward electric vehicles – with significantly greater volumes of power electronics throughout the powertrain – are only adding to the challenge.
